Gilead7 engages the world of Hip-Hop from predominately the rap side of things. Releasing several solo and crew albums from the late 90s until and including the present, the G7 style has been known to many as risk-taking art with undeniable strands of originality in writing, instrumental production, and conceptualization of what Hip-Hop could be. A member of the infamous Chicago-formed collective Tomorrow Kings, Gilead has seen several projects and tours with the group, one of the most notorious being 2013’s full-lenght NRTM CD and vinyl releases (ReSERVED Records). Gilead adds doses of deranged Afro-Celtic-futurism to the TK aesthetic with auras of theology, philosophy, history, science fiction, fantasy and the erotic to the mix as he InnerSects universes many others conceptualize as opposite and incompatible.

As a solo artist, Gilead7 has cultivated his commonplace weirdness through solo albums and duo projects with various producers. Some of the most notable albums of his catalog are the whispered and influential cult classic The Darkroom: The Abandonment of Christendom (ReSERVED, 2005; CD), ADVENT: A Modern Bible with I.B. Fokuz of Tomorrow Kings (The Secret Life of Sound, 2012; CD), Peaces of War with Subtrax (Echoes of Oratory Muzik, 2016, Vinyl), and ArtSpace as the duo VirgoTwins with Boricua Sandy (DamnThatNoise, 2023; Cassette and Expanded Art Records, 2023; Vinyl).

Gilead7 also co-owns two record stores, Aesthetic Religion Records and Texts in St. Peter, MN and Serious Cartoons Records and Tapes in Tijuana, México.

Gilead will be heard again on Tomorrow Kings’ finished and soon-to-be-released SALT LP produced by Aoi as well as his finished and upcoming EP entitled Mirror Audience vinyl EP with producer Memo of the Molemen. Catch him at a show in your hometown or reach out to book him.
