SevenIvan is the InnerSection of Gilead7 and Jon Ivan Gill.
What is an “InnerSection?” Thanks for asking.
InnerSection is the realization of the relation of all to the point where distinctions between “this” and “that” become useless and best and detrimental to universal harmony at worse.
There is no real difference between the scholar Jon Ivan Gill and the artist Gilead7. “Intersections” sometimes imply the coming into contact of two or more things with separate identities. But the InnerSection experiments with the idea that things aren’t as different as they seem, or at least different in the ways we’ve been conditioned to think they are. It also investigates how our classifications the world as “this” and “that” are shaped by and perpetuate oppression, privilege, colonization, etc. That deeper engagement is for another occasion you should bring SevenIvan to your institution, music venue, bookstore, or back alley to learn with you on.
For now, remember that the scholar Jon Ivan does not “intersect” with the artist Gilead because they both “InnerSect” as SevenIvan. In other words, the classroom feels like the live show while the studio is the academic essay (hooks). SevenIvan is not a split personality but a personal multiplicity defiant of the “lines of scrimmage” between the academy and the world (Anzaldúa). All InnerSected from within; all is relational multiplicity with no outside to even create the possibility of common conceptions of difference. InnerSection is a way of rethinking how equitable difference is done with SevenIvan as an example and case study.
